Hello. It has been a long time since I updated this site. Mainly due to laziness, and also a bit to do with being busy at work and with my studies. After a day of computer touching at work, I would much prefer to do musical instrument touching than update the site.
However, there is big news. My music workflow is changing quite a lot. I have also released a few things since I last updated the site. The first thing was my amazing collaboration project with Rusty from (Uma parede de ouvidos) called Prompt Engineer and our EP Alexa, order Ethics: An Introduction and deliver to Armalite Head Office. Noise, but without aggression. I know that I am very proud of it. There is a gritty quality to it, there is a ton of field recordings on it, and I wonder whether it might be the first ever musical recording featuring both Asian and American cicadas.
Next comes harsh-noise fun project Tape Music by me alone. Reviews (verbal) usually go something like “It’s just noise”. But that is not strictly true. There is synthesiser and guitar in there, but it is recorded to tape, played through a multi-speed cassette player into effects pedals and then into another cassette deck.
Then after that, I put out three ‘singles’ as a way to drum up a bit of awareness for the upcoming Apex Creditor album (about which more info coming up below). These were recorded at various points during the making of the album but just didn’t fit in with things. They are quite ambient, generally.
So yes, the new album. I know, it sounds a bit full of myself. I’m not Taylor Swift, but ‘collection of songs’ sounds even worse. Internet busking session sounds like livestreaming. So album it is. Reundo has amazing artwork by my son, some sampling work that I am really proud of that just works, and there are some dance music songs that I could actually imagine people dancing to if they so chose. There is definitely more groove here than on Old Light. It might even sound, dare I say it, happier? I am really proud of the stuff that I’ve made – there are probably hours and hours of stuff that didn’t work out or I didn’t like enough that did not get included.
